BOBBIE'S CAMPAIGN

My goals include continuing maintaining trust and integrity in the Mesa County Clerk’s Office. I lead with knowledge and experience as I am a Certified Election Official both state and nationally. I am committed to treat citizens and staff with respect, as well as value customers and staff. Most importantly, I will continue to ensure every vote counts! I will continue my relationships with multiple state and local government agencies. Mesa County voters deserve a leader in the Clerk's Office who says what they mean and means what they say.    No more empty campaign promises.

WHAT'S IMPORTANT
Vision

To continue to be a trusted, innovative and accessible Clerk and Recorder's Office that serves every member of our community with integrity, transparency and efficiency.  I strive to modernize services, safeguard your public records and ensure fair and secure elections all while delivering an exceptional customer service experience any time you're in the Clerk's office.  Through accountability and continuous improvement, I am to build public confidence and make government services easy and accessible for all.

Elections

Elections should be transparent, accurate and accountable and that is exactly how I have led since I took office in 2023.

I was the first in Colorado to implement a ballot verifier, creating a true third party audit of election results and ballots.  I also made ballot images publicly available online.  Giving every member of our community the ability to review, verify and even conduct their own audit.

But transparency isn't just a promise, it's something you see.  That's why I've opened our doors through election tours which allow residents to witness the process in real time.  You're not on the outside looking in, you're in the room where it happens.  It's where transparency meets education.

I've also taken innovative steps to ensure our voter rolls are as accurate as possible.  I have followed up on returned TABOR checks and undelivered motor vehicle mail registration renewals to proactively reach out to voters to update their information and keep our records current.

When it comes to security I have made it a top priority by installing monitoring systems for our equipment, ballot boxes and process systems that immediately alert us to any unusual activity.

Transparent.  Accurate.  Accountable.  That is how your elections should be, and that is what I deliver.

Preserving Integrity

I bring two decades of on-the-job experience right here in our community. I’m a Colorado and nationally certified Elections Administrator with a proven record of running safe and secure elections - so that you can trust that your ballot counts.

Statutory Duties

The Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Colorado serves citizens in a variety of ways. From the lesser known Clerk to the Board role and Recording official documents, to more widely known duties of processing motor vehicle registration, handling county liquor licensing and managing elections. The elected Clerk can be a vehicle for professionalism in the office or the thorn that creates constant distrust. Every statutory duty is important and should be carried out by properly trained professionals who have a desire to serve citizens, and work as a cohesive team in an efficient manner.

Integrity has been restored to the Clerk’s Office and is woven throughout each position.

Recorded documents are statutorily required to be indexed and publicly searchable within 7 business days of recording, and this has been accomplished consistently.

When you buy a vehicle with financing a lien or mortgage mail is sent to the Clerk. Liens on motor vehicles are now processed timely so customers can get their title complete notice and buy license plates before their temporary tag expires. This consistent processing means customers no longer have to come in to extend temporary permits which reduces unnecessary in-person visits, relieving office congestion, and saving taxpayer time.

Counting eligible votes is at the core of our democracy and is one of the key statutory duties of the Clerk and Recorders in Colorado.  We are statutorily required to send a ballot to every eligible voter in Colorado.  Voters have the flexibility to choose how they cast their ballot.  Whether that is in person, by mail or using one of our secure ballot drop boxes.  All ballots are counted using equipment that is rigorously tested and audited to ensure accuracy and integrity in every election.

Maintaining Relationships

I have worked diligently to build and maintain strong relationships  with local governments, county clerks across the state and lawmakers.  These partnerships are essential to ensuring effective collaboration, informed decision making and continued progress in serving our community.  I was elected as the Western Chair of the Clerks Association.  This role allows me to lead, collaborate and ensure our region has a seat at the table when it comes to legislation, policy development and professional learning opportunities.  In addition I proudly volunteer and serve on the Family Health West Foundation board.  While this role is outside the direct scope of my position, it reflects my commitment to giving back and supporting the health and well-being of our community.  I also worked closely with the City of Grand Junction to propose moving their election cycle an effort aimed at saving tax payer dollars and creating more consistent andefficient elections.

Working collaboratively with our community to identify opportunities for improvement has always been and will continue to be a top priority.
